2013 Section (No official proposal has been made)¹
- Extended breaks
A good part of the Senators advocate that our Winter
break is too short. (Their idea is to start the school earlier, and faster,
skipping the two weeks of "doing nothing" that we had the beginning of this year)
- The extension of the Thanksgiving holiday has
also been discussed, but unanimously refused.
- Start the school earlier
Juniors and Senior Senators pointed that the
classes start too late for them to be well prepared for APs and SAT.
- A suggestion box will be made to receive
suggestions from regular students about things that they want to be different
in the school.
- A Senators constitution is being made
It will "re determine" how many sections
does one have to attend to be a Senator, as their duty, and to reinforce it.
(Senators believe that is not fair to a random student to be able to vote just
by "visiting" the Senate twice, for example).
- Representatives from dorms
Senators believe Prefects should attend the Student
Senate in order to represent their dorms.
- Presidential elections
It has been pointed out by one that every student
(even those who are not senators) should be able to vote to elect the Student
Senate President.
- Nevertheless, the proposal has been rejected by
all the Senators but by the one, because the Senators want to avoid a very
popular person who are not necessarily good to be elected.
¹
Official proposals requires an written paper to be presented, followed
by voting process, before being sent to the staff, who may accept the
proposal or not.

Shena became the newest member of the Student Senate (Currently a Junior Senator, congrats!)
A proposal which had been tabled was presented. It talked about the food in the school cafeteria, and ways to help students who do not like a specific dish to eat another thing instead.
Intense debate took part, but the Senators opted to table it again.
Mr. Sullivan made announcements about the Spirit Week, event being held with the collaboration of the Student Senate.
The session adjourned.
